Type Rating Course B737 (-300 or NG)
Entry requirements:
Frozen ATPL/CPL and valid ME/IR
70 hours P1
Simulator Assessment
MCC completed or it can be integrated into the course at extra cost
Ground School:
The technical Ground School element is run at our training centre using a Computer Based Training (CBT) package and Tutor supervision. To keep costs to a minimum for students we recommend a minimum of four per course to allow interaction and self help to flourish; it also enables pairing for the Full Flight Simulator phase. Ground School lasts for 12 working days during which there are a number of Fixed Base Simulator (FBS) sessions (at least four - 16 hours) for systems familiarity and procedures training. There are also Progress Tests to enable you to assess your performance during the course.
This phase covers all the aircraft systems, performance and operating procedures so that you should be fully prepared for when you start flying the Full Flight Simulator.
Full Flight Simulator (FFS):
We use a number of Simulator providers depending on availability. They are based either at Gatwick or Heathrow. There are nine FFS sessions scheduled (36 hours) with the option of more if required. The importance of capitalising on the FBS training to keep higher FFS costs at a minimum can be readily appreciated. Completing the FFS training on the NG variant is more expensive due to the higher cost of the simulator but the choice is yours.
Aircraft Training:
If you have not flown a similar jet type before then you need to do six landings on the aircraft (about one hour of flying) which is done through our partner training organisation. At present the flying is done on the B737-NG so we advise completing the -300 to NG Differences course which enables both types for you. The cost includes travel and hotel.
Line Flying Package:
300 hours Line Flying including OCC, safety and associated training plus the Operator's Proficiency Check for validation. Averages 50 to 70 hours per month.
