Ground School:

The technical Ground School element is run at our training centre using a Computer Based Training (CBT) package and Tutor supervision. To keep costs to a minimum for students we recommend a minimum of four per course to allow interaction and self help to flourish; it also enables pairing for the Full Flight Simulator phase. Ground School lasts for 12 working days during which there are a number of Fixed Base Simulator (FBS) sessions (at least four - 16 hours) for systems familiarity and procedures training plus Flight Management System (FMS) training. There are also Progress Tests to enable you to assess your performance during the course.

This phase covers all the aircraft systems, performance and operating procedures so that you should be fully prepared for when you start flying the Full Flight Simulator.

Full Flight Simulator (FFS):

We use a number of Simulator providers depending on availability. They are based either at Gatwick or Heathrow. There are ten FFS sessions scheduled (40 hours) with the option of more if required. The importance of capitalising on the FBS and FMS training to keep higher FFS costs at a minimum can be readily appreciated. Completing the FFS training on the 757/767 is more expensive than say the 737, due to the higher cost of the simulator but the choice is yours.
