Type Rating Examiner Course (TRE)
The TRE (or sometimes known as TRES) course is a five day course run by senior qualified instructors. The course is designed as generic although we use the B737 simulator.
The purpose of the TRE Standardisation course is to train Type Rating Instructors to the standard of a Type Rating Examiner TRE (SIM). At the successful completion of the course the candidate will have the knowledge and the ability to move on to the Company Simulator for further consolidation and then Final Validation by a UK CAA Training Inspector.
The course will include briefing on the JAR-FCL requirements, the conduct of skill tests and proficiency checks, their documentation and reporting. A good knowledge of Standards Document 24 will help considerably.
The course Tutor will play different roles to assist you in building up a picture of the type of situations you may well meet. We use a Video camera to record briefings and debriefings. This has been found to be a most valuable training aid.
You are expected to be familiar with the JAR-FCL requirements before commencing the course and there will be a written/oral examination, conducted by a CAA Training Inspector on Day 3.
